Get to Know Just A Little Bit About Me
Hi, everyone! My name is Aiane Karla. If you’re wondering how my first name is pronounced, it’s actually quite simple. It’s pronounced, “Aye-yen” (like the letter “A” and “N” connected). I’ve never really introduced myself on this blog, so today, I thought I’d share a few things to help you get to know just a little bit about me. I’m a grateful wife, fine art photographer, gallery wall designer, musician, prayer warrior and lover of all things lavender. I feel happiest on rainy days and love napping to the sound of rainstorms and thunder.
My husband and I live in a peaceful town in Southern California called Valley Center. We’re surrounded by organic farms and also happen to live near a lavender farm. If you and I could spend some time together, we’d likely be in my kitchen cooking vegan food with Italian cooking music playing in the background, and this is what I’d tell you: “Live with joyful intention, practice prayerful surrender and live each day as though it was your last”.
When I’m not photographing families, pregnant mommas, couples and little ones, I teach children how to play the piano. I started playing piano at the age of four. I guess you could say the piano was my first love. When I was in high school, I often lost track of time while practicing piano. I’ve played for choirs, orchestras, and also directed a children’s choir.
Music has always been a part of my life, and I’m grateful to God for blessing me with a husband who loves music just as much as I do! We enjoy and appreciate music differently. When he plays the piano, my husband thinks of the mathematical relationships and patterns the notes make. I love the way his brain works! It always fascinates me. When I play the piano, it’s like picking up where I left off with my childhood best friend. When my fingers touch the piano, it’s like writing on my heart’s journal.
I have been photographing friends and family since I was twelve, when my father came home from an international business trip and brought home the first digital camera I’d ever seen. He spent a few minutes teaching me the ropes and then encouraged me to use the camera to capture the world as I saw it. That was the pivotal moment that made me the visual storyteller I am today.
My love of curating and designing luxurious wall art began when I was a seven-year-old watching my maternal grandfather painstakingly mount his photography clients’ special images on fine wood. He was a professional photographer who valued the importance of personally handcrafted art pieces that his clients treasured for years to come. He was an excellent artisan who loved and mastered his craft. He taught me a valuable lesson — that my work as a photographer is never done until I’ve helped you do something with your images.
My work is never done until I’ve helped you do something with your images.
